Singing Session for ‘Ukulele Singers/ tips and tricks for stage fright

This interactive workshop is designed for 'ukulele players who love to sing along with their instrument but struggle with stage fright or performance anxiety. Through guided exercises, you'll learn how to build confidence in both your vocal and instrumental abilities. Topics include vocal warm-ups, breath control, and techniques to calm nerves before performing. Whether you’re performing for a small group or a large audience, you'll leave with practical tips and tricks to help you feel at ease and bring your musical performance to life!

The Beauty Within: How to Get the Best Tone Out of Your Instrument

 This will be an in-depth conversation about getting to know your instrument better. Sit in on an eye- and ear-opening session full of deeper dives and epiphanies into what makes something work. As a seasoned composer and audio engineer, Daniel is always looking to sonically take things to the next level. He will go over nuances in technique, and all the aspects of the ‘ukulele that contribute to a rich and pristine tone.

Bass 101 - The Basics

So you just got a bass and you don't know what to do. In this class, you will learn everything you need to know for your first jam session. You'll learn the major scale and the Roots and Fifths that go with it. Roots and fifths are the most common and most crucial bass-line building blocks. Once you learn these, you'll be able to follow a chord chart and play along with your ukulele friends. 

Intro to Electronics

Learn how to use pedals and amps to create interesting sounds with your ukulele as well as how to properly mic and amplify yourself for playing out.

 Melissa will show off her collection of electric ukuleles and pedals and talk about what to look for if you want to go electric. We will cover all the basics so you feel like a pro and know what equipment you need to sound great when you are sharing your music with others.

Welcome Jam

New for 2025! Our Friday afternoon jam is a more relaxed jam session where attendees pick the songs they want to play from the master songbook rather than having a pre-defined set list. 

This jam will feature selections from Petey Mack's famous songbook (Feb 2023 version). We won't be have a jam-specific songbook for this jam so you can either use Petey's full book or just follow along with the projected chord sheets. 

 

Afternoon Jam

New for 2025! Our Saturday Afternoon jam is a great way to unwind after lunch before workshops start again!

This jam will feature selections from Petey Mack's famous songbook (Feb 2023 version). We encourage you to utilize the jam-specific songbook if you do not want to download or print Petey's full book. The chord sheets will be projected during the jams. As always, jam-specific books will be distributed electronically prior to the festival.
