Hula Workshop

Students will learn the folk dance of our 50th state, the Hula.  Simple steps and hand motions will combine to tell a story.

Instructor Debi Velasco will supply written instructions to each dancer.  Students will perform the song they have learned at the Saturday evening concert!

Lei Making

Students will complete a wristlet made with fresh flowers using the “wili” (winding) method.

Instructor Debi Velasco will supply all materials and tools needed. The technique taught is simple and can be replicated at home.

  1. Is there a limit to the total number of registrants? Yes! Our in-person capacity for the 2026 Allegheny Ukulele Soirée is 275 attendees. 
     
  2. How much does it cost to attend the Allegheny Ukulele Soirée? The early-bird price is $110 and includes both concerts, all the workshops, open mic, and jams. Beginning February 1st, the regular price of the festival is $135.

Jam Leader's Guidelines

Your Role Before the Jam

  • Prepare a set list - consider what your theme will be!
    • You will responsible for putting together your Jam's songbook into a Word or PDF document.
    • You will work closely with Amy to select the ideal songs for your jam. 
  • Have a range of songs from easy to intermediate so everyone can enjoy
  • Put them in play order with a Table of Contents
