The Allegheny Ukulele Kollective is a Ukulele enthusiast club based in the Altoona-State College, PA region. The Allegheny Ukes have existed in various incarnations since 2010 where we jammed on college campuses, the local YMCA, and in cafes. The Allegheny Ukulele Kollective is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We have a Jam nearly every Sunday of every month.
In this workshop , we will learn about common effect pedals, the best ones for ukulele , how they work, and how to properly use them. The end of the class will include an open mic where the students can play a song of their choice while experimenting with various effect pedals to tastefully enhance the song.
Ever wondered how to construct a harmony part? Ever run into a song that was easy to play in uke group, but completely out of your vocal range? If you're ready to go beyond the basics of "hum & strum", this class is for you! Using the simple technique presented in this class, you'll be able to create one, two, and three-part harmonies quickly and with confidence.
Attendees should be prepared to sing! You will need a uke to play and a pencil to take notes. A music stand is not required, but will be extremely helpful.
Is it a guitar? Is it a ukulele? What is this strange hybrid creature? In this workshop, we will go over what the Baritone ukulele has in common with the guitar and what it shares with the ukulele and how you can easily use chord shapes you already know to play it.
Ed works in Human Resources Information Technology and has been playing music since he was young, He has played piano, guitar, and ukulele over the years, recently returning to music via his daughter learning ukulele. In addition to music, he enjoys tinkering with instruments and electronics and spends many weekends volunteering as an Adult Leader for Moraine Trails Council BSA.

Mim has had the opportunity to perform with unique artists from around the world. Coming from outside the "ukulele world" they often bring unique insights on what it takes to be a performer, how to hone your craft, how to interact with crowds, and how to think outside the box!
Hey! What exactly is a set-up, anyway? Why does my ukulele buzz? How do I fix it? What does my ukulele want from me? Mim will be breaking down the mysterious “set-up” everyone talks about! She will lead you in an informative workshop that will cover everything from changing your strings and daily ukulele maintenance to diagnosing ukulele problems and even fixing them yourself!
Racheal Houghton began to explore her love of music many moons ago playing clarinet and saxophone for concert, marching, and jazz band ensemble. Racheal fell in love with the ukulele in 2017 buying her first Kala ukulele at a gift shop while on vacation at the outer banks in NC and has played every day since! Currently she loves to volunteer for the local Office of the aging leading “Sing a Longs for Seniors” and the “Ukulele Strumalong at the Poughkeepsie,NY library district.

An outstanding festival for ukulele players, both beginners and experienced. The ability to interact face-to-face with the amazing guest performers, other uke players, and vendors was invaluable.

The Soiree is a great program to attend. It is well organized, with a great deal of expertise, thoughtful planning and reasonable fees. Well seasoned presenters make the sessions productive and organized!
